Rebates

Cowlitz County homeowners have access to real money through Cowlitz PUD rebates and the Washington State HEAR program. I handle the paperwork as part of the job.

Cowlitz PUD
Utility Rebates

Up to $1,500 on ducted systems, $900 on ductless mini-splits. Available to all Cowlitz County customers.

WA HEAR
State Program

Up to $8,000 for income-qualifying households. Stacks with Cowlitz PUD rebates.

AHRI
Certified Equipment

Bosch systems I install are AHRI certified, the key requirement for qualifying for most programs.

Cowlitz PUD Rebates

Cowlitz PUD is the electric utility serving all of Cowlitz County, including Kelso, Longview, Kalama, Castle Rock, and Woodland. They offer rebates on qualifying energy-efficient equipment installed by licensed contractors.

Ductless mini-split heat pump $900
Ducted heat pump — replacing electric furnace (variable speed) $1,500
Ducted heat pump — replacing electric furnace (standard) $1,200
Ducted heat pump — upgrading existing to variable speed $600
Heat pump water heater $700–$1,100
Smart thermostat (contractor-installed) $165

Rebates are paid after installation. I handle the rebate paperwork for my customers as part of the job.

How it works:

  1. 1 Call me — I'll confirm the equipment you need qualifies for a rebate
  2. 2 I install your AHRI-certified Bosch system
  3. 3 I provide the equipment documentation Cowlitz PUD requires
  4. 4 I submit the rebate application on your behalf
  5. 5 Cowlitz PUD issues you a check

Washington State HEAR Program

The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) program is administered by the Washington State Department of Commerce and targets low- to moderate-income households with substantially larger rebates than utility programs alone.

Household income at or below 80% of Area Median Income Up to $8,000
Household income between 80% and 150% of Area Median Income Up to $4,000

These rebates can be stacked on top of Cowlitz PUD rebates. To connect with the HEAR program administrator for Cowlitz County, email [email protected].

For households at or below 125% of the federal poverty level, the Washington State Weatherization Program may cover heat pump installation at no cost. Contact your local Community Action Agency for eligibility.

Note on the federal tax credit: The Section 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement tax credit expired December 31, 2025 and is not available for installations completed in 2026. If you had a heat pump installed in 2025, you can still claim it on your 2025 tax return.

Why Bosch Equipment Qualifies

Not all heat pumps qualify for rebates. Bosch systems do, because they are AHRI certified and built to the efficiency standards these programs require.

AHRI Certified

AHRI (Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute) certification verifies that equipment meets rated efficiency levels. Most rebate programs require this.

High SEER Ratings

Bosch systems meet and exceed the minimum SEER ratings required by Washington State and federal efficiency programs.

Inverter-Driven Technology

Inverter compressors modulate their output to match demand, delivering efficiency that standard single-stage units cannot match.

10-Year Warranty

Bosch backs their equipment with a 10-year factory warranty. Combined with my 10-year labor warranty, that is complete protection for a decade.

How the Savings Stack Up

Two real scenarios for Cowlitz County homeowners

Standard household
Typical mini-split install $4,500–$6,500
Cowlitz PUD rebate -$900
Out of pocket $3,600–$5,600
HEAR-qualifying household
Typical ducted install $7,000–$12,000
Cowlitz PUD rebate -$1,500
HEAR program rebate up to -$8,000
Out of pocket as low as $0

Most homeowners also save 30-50% on heating costs after switching from electric resistance heat. The system continues paying for itself long after the rebates are spent.
